Wine Tasting & Silent Auction, May 2014

Auction2Our major fundraising event of the year was held on May 17th, a month earlier than the previous year and vastly more successful. ¬†Our theme was the World Cup of Wines in anticipation of the World Cup Soccer Tournament to be held in June. We featured wines from World Cup countries, both whites and reds and retained a wine connoisseur to describe the offerings. ¬†There were many more items in the silent auction than in previous years and we filled all the rooms downstairs in the rectory. We also set up a credit card reader in the church office so the “big spenders” would empty their credit cards!
The Vestry voted to donate a portion of the proceeds to the food pantries at St. Agnes and Holy Trinity and to North Porch, the diocesan organization that provides supplies to babies and toddlers in need.

Holy Trinity Soup Kitchen

Holy Trinity Soup Kitchen

On Saturday, May 3rd, a group of CHI parishioners joined members from Holy Spirit Church to serve at the Holy Trinity soup kitchen. We fed about 50 people (not including ourselves) with all kinds of pasta dishes, veggies, salads and desserts. The CHI kids were glued to the dessert section, of course, while the rest of us doled out the pasta. This is a wonderful way not only to help feed people who need our help, but for our church groups to get to know one another. Thanks to Elaine and Janie who make all the arrangements and remind us to focus on our mission and outreach!
