On Saturday, November 1, CHI gathered at Holy Trinity Church in West Orange to help host the soup kitchen. Our job was to bring the “sides” this time rather than the main dishes. Once again, the kids handled the desserts and “grownups” the salads and other food. There was an assortment of candy from Halloween this time. I’m wondering if the kids and adults could switch at some point in the future!
Sunday, November 2 was the traditional reading of the necrology. This is a solemn service as we remember all the names of friends and family members who have died.
On November 14, we held a TGIF night. We showed the movie, “Heaven is for Real” and dined on pizza, soda and ice cream. Julie brought along a popcorn popper, newly purchased and highly rated, but the device failed to deliver much to the disappointment of everyone, especially the children. Something about this fall — recalcitrant grill and defunct popcorn maker.
